On the northwestern side of the Delta, in an area known as The Panhandle, stand several old, established camps, including Drotsky's Cabins and Nxamaseri Lodge . These are often regarded as fishing camps, as the tiger-fishing here is particularly good, but the bird-watching is also first class, with rarities like skimmers, as well as a host of egrets, storks, kingfishers and warblers. These camps offer an Okavango experience that can be good value if you're driving on the west side of the Delta.

The panhandle is also the gateway to the fascinating Tsodilo Hills – which is best visited on a mobile safari.
