Maps

The very best maps for travelling around Botswana are the Shell maps and the InfoMap.

The serious and well-researched Shell Tourist Guide to Botswana, includes an informative booklet on the country. For more detailed coverage, there are also Shell maps of Chobe, Moremi, Okavango and Kgalagadi which have detailed coverage of the tracks through these national parks – utilising satellite images. For off-beat trips to Botswana, the ContiMap is also a valuable resource. It's been produced by Mike Main – an celebrated and erudite Botswana traveller – and has an extensive range of reliable GPS points. These include some of the more offbeat routes outside the parks, and they are especially good on areas like the Makgadikgadi Pans and south of Ghanzi.

Bradt Travel Guides

Naturally we also supply the Bradt Travel Guides written by members of the Expert Africa team. For 2006 these are available for £10 (plus £2 per book postage & packing, within the UK) from us, refundable against the cost of any appropriate trip subsequently booked with Expert Africa!
