Tubu Tree Camp

Tented Chalet

The five tented chalets at Tubu Tree are of canvas construction and have been built on individual raised decks, to either side of the communal buildings.

Each room has a balcony area on the front of the deck, with a couple of chairs to be able to sit out. The sliding doors, which open out onto balcony, are simply wood and mesh. So with the beds facing out to the front of the tent they provide a perfect spot to sit and admire the surrounding plains.

The rooms are simply but adequately furnished with a desk, decent reading lamps above the beds and even a couple of chairs. And when we last visited, we appreciated the tea and coffee making station in the room – which we understand is a reasonably new introduction and somewhat in the testing phase. The free-standing fan helps a little in the hotter months, but we did find that our tent didn't get much shade in the heat of the day and it became quite stifling.

A simple reed divider separates the sleeping area and the bathroom, which we felt was a little gloomy. There is a sliding door to separate the flushing toilet from the room – a definite improvement on the pole-construction and curtain from previous visits!

In the November heat, we particularly enjoyed the outside shower (and of course the views). But there is an indoor shower too if preferred.
