Kenya

Kenya is one of Africa's oldest destinations for safaris and holidays, and includes famous national parks from Amboseli to Tsavo and from the Masai Mara to Samburu, as well as destinations on the coast for beach holidays from Lamu Island to Mombassa.

You might reasonably expect Expert Africa to feature a whole range of safari and beach holiday options in Kenya.

In fact, we don't offer any holidays to Kenya at all.

Why no safaris or beach holidays to Kenya?

Our reasoning is clear. To create trips to Africa that suit you perfectly, we believe that you need the best possible advice. You can rely on us being brutally honest about what we know, and on us being equally clear open and about what we don't know.

We don't know Kenya's parks or coast at all well. This is why we don't send anyone on safaris or beach holidays here.

We only offer trips to areas that we know inside-out. These are areas where our team have covered the ground in detail, and know it from first-hand experience. These are areas where we've visited the vast majority of the camps and lodges, experienced the parks for ourselves, and sought out the small hide-aways, camps and beach lodges that many of our travellers love so much. You can rely on us generally having slept in the beds, gone on the safaris, and eaten at the restaurants of the places that we feature.

In short – our policy is to be honest about the information that we're giving: you can rely on us knowing the places that we talk about, or being clear about what we don't know.

No if's, not but's, no pretences – we'll always do our best to give you the full story!

That's why we don't offer holidays to Kenya.

So why include Nairobi and Kenya here?

We've included a simple page here, entitled 'Kenya', because one or two of our trips do sometimes use flights which pass through Kenya – then our travellers may sometimes need to stay in Nairobi for a night or two.

We're not experts on Nairobi; we don't pretend to be. But if you're passing through here on one of our trips, then you might want to consider stopping over at one of the few hotels here that we have confidence in.

Alternatively, we're very happy for you to organise your own stop-over hotel in Nairobi, and have us then organise your onward arrangements.
