Porini Amboseli Camp: picture gallery

At Porini Amboseli you'll be looked after by local Selenkay Maasai.
The camp is simply built…
…and makes a virtue of its lack of permanent structures.
Under the pleasant shade of some of the largest trees in the area…
…meals are often taken outside, with sand under foot and birds and monkeys overhead.
Just metres away, there's a large dining and lounge tent, often used for dinner.
Meals tend to be a combination of group dining and invidual tables.
At the back of the camp is a small 'office' tent, and nearby a low-ceilinged curio shop…
…selling the output of the local Maasai community's craftsmen and women…
…each piece priced and labelled to ensure the maker gets the proceeds.
Many of the items are traditional…
…in design…
…though the tiny plastic beads are a more recent innovation, and imported.
The guest tents at Porini Amboseli are large and comfortable…
…but not fussy.
The bathrooms are off to one side…
…and feature walk-in, safari showers, supplied with hot water on request…
…well furnished washstands…
…and flush toilets.
The camp is in a rich wildlife area (this porcupine burrow was nearby)…
…and animals can be spotted quite easily.
