Cottars 1920s Camp: video gallery

Cottars 1920s Camp: picture gallery

Meet the team: Cottar's 1920s camp is owned by Calvin and Louise Cottar (right).
Cottars 1920s Camp is a luxury camp, set in its own conservancy.
Each large tent is set off the main path through the camp, making them very private.
The tents are wide and airy, and have broad, shady "veranda" areas at the front…
…looking onto scenes that can hold the gaze for hours.
Inside, there's a day bed to one side…
…and a large four poster…
…with huge views across the savannah…
…with the solid-construction bathroom attached directly behind.
There's a small writing table in the corner behind the day bed.
The bathrooms stretch the full width of the tent…
…with a simple walk-in shower on one side…
…and a loo in a cubicle on the other.
The main central parts of Cottar's are dominated by the large mess and lounge tent…
…with its busy, period furnishings…
…and appealing, vintage decor.
It's all quite elegant in an informal way.
This is where guests gather before setting off on activities and before meals.
The food at Cottar's is always good and often beautifually presented.
Near the mess and lounge, a large tent houses Cottar's shop…
…which has a great choice of very nice, pricey crafts and jewellery.
The pool, on the far side of the camp near the family tents…
…looks out onto a beautiful valley…
…and is always crystal-clear.
There's a separate mess tent by the pool that makes a great venue for a private meal.
Cottar's is a large camp, stretching more than 600m from end to end.
