Rekero: video gallery

Rekero: picture gallery

Rekero is tucked into a beautifully wooded stretch of the Talek River.
The camp is set up after the rains every year.
From the Ol Kiombo airstrip, you reach camp by crossing the seasonal Olare Orok river.
Although parts of the camp have been cleared, it remains very much wild animal habitat.
Shady pathways lead from the main area to the tents.
The tents are traditional, with no permanent structures incorporated.
…and the canvas and wood 'director's chairs' in the porch areas…
…leave you in no doubt that you are on safari.
The family tents are spacious and all the tents are comfortably furnished in a homely style…
…with soft rugs and large, welcoming beds. Each tent has an alarm horn for emergencies
The camp faces generally south-west, so the aftenoon sun streams in…
…across the Talek River.
Bathrooms are also practical, with hot and cold running water...
and lots of storage for clothes.
In the central part of the camp, there's a comfortable lounge with sofas and armchairs...
and a large deck with views over the Talek River.
The main dining table is in the 'mess tent' behind the lounge.
The second lounge, in a tented deck by the river, is a new addition.
Lunch is usually eaten on the lawn…
…or you can eat in the decked, river lounge tent, or even…
…on the observation deck, close to where wildebeest sometimes cross.
Rekero has a small curio shop, offering locally made curios.
Children are welcome at Rekero but we suggest its best for children over the age of 10 years.
A bush breakfast is provided on the morning activity...
with fresh bread, muffins, a selection of cereals and cold sausages and boiled eggs.
and each evening activity ends with sundowner drinks and snacks.
