The Deluxe Seaview rooms at the Africa House are slightly larger than the standard Deluxe Rooms and, as the name suggests, they have a sea view. These rooms are situated down a flight of stairs from the bar area. When we were being shown the rooms – which are down a rather dingy corridor – we expected that the rooms would be equally as dingy. However, they are actually lovely and bright thanks to large windows which let in plenty of light.

Each of the rooms is furnished with beautiful Zanzibari beds, small tables decorated with hand painted tiles, and comfortable lounge chairs. On the beds are bright silk throws and cushions, and mosquito nets hang from the canopies.

All of these rooms have air-conditioning, a mini-bar that is stocked on request and a phone with an outside line. Overall, though the tiled floors and slightly garish and the walls feel a little dated, the rooms are pleasant and good value.

The en-suite bathrooms in the Deluxe Seaview rooms are spotlessly clean, with a flush toilet, hot-and-cold shower/bath and a sink. They are quite small, but nicely decorated in white marble-effect tile, and a red tile around the sink.
