Atlantic Villa, which opened in 2007, is situated approximately 6km north of Swakopmund at Vogelstrand. This area is quieter than staying in the centre of town and so will appeal to those who want to relax in a peaceful environment. The views of the Altantic Ocean are pretty good too.

There are 27 rooms here including three self-catering family apartments. The rooms are split into two areas, with five of them in the 'guesthouse' (including two luxury rooms) and the rest in the 'Atlantic Villa Hotel', both of which are on the same property and use the same facilities. All bedrooms here have a balcony with a view of either the desert or the ocean. The rooms are modern and stylish, with clean lines and minimal fuss. There's a huge sense of space. The rooms have TVs, tea and coffee making facilities, a minibar, a phone, a balcony and an enormous bathroom.

The self catering rooms are more like flats and have huge kitchens with CD players, microwave ovens, and all cutlery, crockery and some cooking equipment provided. Tea and coffee are provided, and there's also a fridge.

The suites here have lounges with flat screen TV and a sofa. Outside is a patio with a braai area. Suites have changing coloured lights and remote controlled curtains, but other than that are decorated in white.

The communal area of the guesthouse is downstairs near to reception. They offer free internet in the lounge area, and there's also a card room (basically a second lounge) with books that guests can read. Out the back is a terrace. The lodge also has a very small cellar. The whole place feels modern stylish, clean, and comfortable. When we last visited in 2010 Altlantic Villa were in the in the process of adding 16 more rooms to take the total to 27, but these building works have now finished.

Our view

For those looking for peace and relaxation in Swakopmund, Atlantic Villa offers just that, a few kilometers north of town. With a variety of rooms to choose from, all of which are stylishly decorated, it makes a good place to stay while you explore Swakopmund.
