Auberge Omulonga was recommended to us by one of our regular travelers but none of the team at expert Africa has visited it yet. Here's what we know about it so far…
Set up by French owners who loved Namibia so much they decided to stay, Auberge Omulonga is a mixture of African and French. Located in the heart of Okahandja, 66km north of Windhoek, this small bed and breakfast is a handy base en route between Windhoek and Etosha. Being in the centre of town however, the surrounding roads will obviously be busier and noisier than a rural location.
While staying in the comfortable rooms you can take a relaxing drink in the garden before dinner in the African dining room or under the stars by the light of an oil lamp. The food is a mixture of French and European cooking and is made using fresh products from the markets; also cakes and bread are made daily by the staff. You can choose to eat at your own table or to join in with other guests. For those who want to go exploring during the day, picnic packs are available on request.
You can discover more about Namibia through the local people who can tell you about Namibian culture and wildlife.
Perfect stopover for Etosha after long flight
After the long flight, Auberge Omulonga proved to be the ideal stop-over before setting off for Etosha.
Christine our host made us most welcome & provided a lovely evening meal.
