Auberge Provence

 - Hermanus, South Africa
Read 2 traveller reviews of Auberge Provence

Perched high on the cliffs, overlooking Walker Bay, is Auberge Provence. Located just 1km from Hermanus, this elegant guesthouse offers beautiful views over the cliffs, and the chance to spot the Southern Right Whale when they come to calve in Walker Bay (in season).

None of the Expert Africa team have yet visited this hotel personally, but here is what we know about it…

Auberge Provence is designed to resemble a typical French Provencal farmhouse. The use of stone, wrought iron and natural wood gives the guesthouse a rustic feel, with soft furnishings and South African artwork adding to the relaxed atmosphere. Other features include stone fireplaces and a romantic central courtyard.

The elegant design extends to the five suites, each individually themed with en-suite bathrooms and scented French bath products. Some suites have their own plunge pool and jacuzzi and all have views out to sea so you can whale watch from the comfort of your own room. All suites have tea and coffee making facilities, a telephone, DSTV, hair dryers, minibars and separate dressing rooms.

Breakfast is served under the terrace or on the seafront patio. The guesthouse offers modern comforts such as wi-fi while retaining its comfort and charm.

Activities available in the surrounding area include whale watching, either sea-based or from the land. Being only one and a half hours' drive from Cape Town, guest can also go shark cage diving from Gansbaai or wine tasting in Stellenbosch.
