The straw-bale chalets at Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch are well insulated by the 600mm thick hay bales built in between the two walls, keeping the rooms cool in summer and warm during the winter. These rooms are slightly smaller inside than the dune chalets.

The furniture is dark African wood, and each chalet has storage space for clothes and a small writing desk to scribble quick postcards out to family or friends. They also have a mini-bar, tea/coffee-making facilities, a lockable safe for valuables, a ceiling fan and air conditioning.

These straw-bale chalets can also be used as family units as each has a sleeper couch which can accommodate up two 2 younger children sharing with their parents.

The air conditioner acts as a heater during the winter months, and the Bagatelle team will also provide hot water bottles and extra blankets to keep you warm during the cold Kalahari nights. (Night-time temperatures can drop to as low as -10 degrees Celius during the winter here.)

Each straw-bale chalet at Bagatelle has an en-suite bathroom in which is a flush toilet, a wash basin and a hot/cold shower.
Linen and toiletries are provided, including soap, body lotion, towels and insect repellent. Although there are no hair dryers, they do have one to loan out to guests: request this from the team if you want to use it.
