Beach Lodge is located about 5km north of Swakopmund town centre, directly overlooking the beach. It's distinctive and quirky design makes it stand out from the other buildings in the area – it is built in the shape of a boat and has a nautical theme.
Beach Lodge has 19 rooms that form part of a boat-shaped building. The rooms are light, airy and stylish each with a private patio or balcony overlooking the sea. Continuing the nautical theme, many of the rooms have circular, port-hole windows. All rooms are equipped with a telephone, TV, coffee/tea station and a small fridge. Most rooms have roof fans and others have fireplaces for those cold evenings. Rooms without fireplaces are equipped with heaters. There are en-suite bathrooms with showers and/or baths adjoining all rooms.
Beach Lodge's central facilities are made up of a small lounge in the reception area that also has internet access, and a large, bright room where breakfast is normally served. The room has a nautical theme with large porthole windows and patio doors that look out to the sea. At lunchtime and in the evenings this room becomes the “The Wreck” restaurant where guest can have dinner without having to travel into town. On our last visit, in April 2010, we found this restaurant to be serving excellent seafood, steaks and imaginative deserts. There's also a children's menu. The restaurant is highly recommended even if you are not staying at Beach Lodge.
