Tree-house #1, at Chole Mjini, is also known as 'Moja'. It is quite well hidden (especially after the rains) high up in the canopy of a huge and ancient Baobab tree. (The baobab trees at Chole are very unusual, in that they often grow on this island at the bater's edge and beside the beach – almost competing with the natural mangrove vegetation!).

Moja is the only house at Chole Mjini that is on a single level, and is the only tree-house which has just one double bed (most also have singles).

Jean, the owner of Chole Mjini, comments that this tree-house is a great favorite with the guests at Chole Mjini, because of the views of the sea out to Kinasi Pass, over the Mangroves. The spacious deck that raps around the tree allows the 'closest' tree experience of all the houses – and can be quite enchanting at night when lit by fireflies.

Visitors staying in this tree-house often have other inhabitants, namely nesting fish eagles or kites up in the tree and it has happened, all too often, that young chicks have thrown fish and 'reptile' heads down at the guests below on the deck.

The shower of one is in a bamboo thicket and it is Jean's favorite.

Jean also comments that the down-side of Moja, if there is one, is the toilet. It is one of three that were built by Jean's predecessor for the 'tented camp' that was planned here and, although it functions and doesn't smell unpleasant, it is small and a little cramped. Jean also comments that the light inside is insufficient to read by!
