Gorah Elephant Camp

 - Southern Game Parks, South Africa
Read 2 traveller reviews of Gorah Elephant Camp

Gorah Elephant Camp occupies a private concession within Addo Elephant Park. The park is small in African terms, but because of this you will almost certainly be able to view a multitude of animals through the guided walks and 4WD game drives, which are included as part of your stay. A stay at Gorah Elephant Camp is perfect for elephant-watching, with Addo Elephant Park also home to varied game including lion, leopard, buffalo and hippo.

Gorah sets a high standard with plenty of classic elegance and space in its eleven palatial tents. The luxury tented suites are designed in a colonial style, offering a romantic atmosphere. They are all en-suite with private decks for a sundowner or admiring the panoramic views. Each room also has an interior relaxation area, ceiling fans and in-house communication between tents and the main house.

The communal area of the camp contains a library of books donated by guests and a small curio shop. You can relax with a book by the fireplace in either of the two lounges, and the dining rooms offer fine views over the Addo plains. There is a log fire in the alfresco dining area or you can dine on high quality, African-influenced food by candlelight in the dining room by the crackling log fire.

Other facilities include a swimming pool with sun decks and a luxury waiting room where you can wait while you check in. Wi-fi is available throughout the lodge. The comfy sofas on the veranda offer a relaxing place from which to view game from the front of the house, overlooking the waterhole and the plain.

Activities on offer from the camp include game viewing from landcruisers with qualified rangers and guides. These can be done as a private game drive if required. For keen photographers it is also possible to hire an expert photography guide. Guided bush walks, horseback rides, mountain bike trails and bird watching are also available.
