A very casual camp, Grumeti River Camp offers bright, playful interiors, relaxed lounge and dining areas and a great spot for watching the migration on its journey north. Expect a camp that's funky rather than cutting-edge design.
There are 10 large, ivory tents under thatch, each complete with an extravagant bed, psychedelic coloured chairs and Kenyan glasswear; flush toilets are en-suite and showers under the stars. The central areas feature moulded concrete and beaten-tin furniture, strewn with colourful cushions and intriguing artefacts.
There's also a small plunge pool and bar. All of these overlook a lush river so full of emerald water-lettuce that it has a village green appearance.
