Between Damaraland and Etosha, Hobatere is owned by one of Namibia's leading naturalists, Steve Braine. It has comfortable cottages, plenty of space and a pool to relax by. Its environment and game densities are similar to Etosha, and here professional guides lead walking safaris and drives (day and night). Hobatere is slightly off the obvious route, but is worth the effort to reach it.
Lodge overview
Lodge type: Safari
Season: Open Year Round
Ideal length of stay: Three nights is probably ideal - to get to know the place and to experience what it has to offer.
Walking safaris: Lying on the western boundary of Etosha, and very similar in environment, Hobatere's professional guides, including Steve (the owner and a top-class birder!) and Martin, lead excellent morning game walks. With the area's high game density, prides of lion, elephant, giraffe, leopard and Hartmann's zebra are frequently seen.
