Set in the middle of a sweeping bay, we first visited a lodge here seven years ago that was subsequently bought and rebuilt. In December 2001, Indigo Bay Island Resort opened here, facing into the sunset from an idyllic beachside setting. Golf carts are used to move guests and luggage between the rooms, indicating just how substantial the resort is.
It has 24 beach chalets, 24 bay view rooms and a couple of suites - all with air-con, mini-bars and satellite TVs. Indigo bay's amenities and facilities are excellent, and the standard of service is high. There are plenty of activities on offer, including supervised games for children.
Indigo Bay is the sister-resort of Matemo, in Mozambique's Quirimbas Archipelago
