Tented rooms

Jongomero Camp, Ruaha National Park, Tanzania

The tents at Jongomero are very large canvas structures – more like apartments with canvas walls. All are raised on wooden platforms over looking the Ruaha River. They are very stylish and thoughtfully put together – with high-quality furnishings used throughout.

Once inside – you will find plenty of space, highly polished wooden floors, a vast double bed, and an en-suite bathroom. The frames of the beds are made from chunky, repossessed dhow wood which has been beautifully restored, without loosing its gnarled character. Then a comfortable leather armchair entices you to sit and read in the heat of the day.

At the front of each tent is a veranda furnished with a day-bed and two deckchairs – a fantastic spot to sit and watch wildlife between activities. The passing breeze and shaded thatch, as well as the shade from the surrounding trees – makes this an inviting place for a few hours.
At the back of the tent – through a canvas door which can be rolled up to create an open-plan effect, or let down for increased privacy; is the en-suite bathroom.

Twin his-and-hers sinks are set into a large wooden surface – along one side of the bathroom. Then opposite you will find hanging space for your belongings.

There is a proper flush-toilet as well as a vast hot-and-cold shower. Toiletries are provided and thoughtfully displayed - the shampoo and conditioner in lovely blown glass bottles, whilst the soap is wrapped artistically in leaves.

The bathroom is very spacious and is stylized, in keeping with the natural theme of the room.
