Khorab Lodge

 - Central Highlands, Namibia
Read 8 traveller reviews of Khorab Lodge

Situated just 4 km south of Otavi Khorab Lodge is a beautiful place to stop for a night and take in the wonderful location of the Central Highlands on your way to or from the key destinations like Etosha National Park or the Caprivi.

The highlight of this lodge is certainly the lush, well-kept gardens which you can admire from the veranda of one of the ten private chalets. Each one is spacious and decorated in colourful fabrics, with a double bed covered in a mosquito net. Each is furnished with a cane lounge set and all have an en-suite bathroom. The rooms are built in pairs around the lovely gardens, connected by flower lined pathways. There are fans and mosquito nets in all rooms.

As well as the ten chalets there are also four bungalows with kitchenettes and two recently built 'houses', which would be suitable for families.

The main building at Khorab Lodge comprises of a bar, a lounge with relaxing couches, a curio shop and a breakfast room, all set out under a high thatched ceiling. The lodge also has a large swimming pool and sun loungers set out on a patio area.

Meals here are varied and created using mainly local produce. Breakfast is a lovely prepared variation of home-grown vegetables and fruits as well as other additions from the area. For lunch and dinner the a la carte menu has a good selection of local game, ostrich and vegetarian meals as well as tasty desserts. In addition to the menu you can select from a range of different South African Cape wines. On request you can enjoy African braai (barbeque) under the starlit sky.

As well as the daily running of the lodge, the managers of Khorab also handle a small farm which supplies the kitchen with fresh produce such as eggs, fruit and vegetables. Khorab Lodge also supports the local surrounding farms where they can by buying goods such as game meat and cheese from them.

The lodge does not offer any activities on the premises but can arrange day trips to Etosha National Park, Hoba Meteorite, Lake Otjikoto, the museum at Tsumeb and wine tasting trips to winery in nearby Outjo.
