The Kilimanjaro Hotel in Dar es Salaam is owned and managed by the international chain, Kempinski hotels. It is situated in the centre of Dar and has all of the facilities you would expect of a high-quality international hotel. Expert Africa has not yet managed to visit the Kilimanjaro Hotel and though we look forward to describing it in our own words – here are some details from the hotel themselves.
Kilimanjaro Hotel Dar es Salaam is located at the centre of Tanzania's commercial capital, facing the Dar es Salaam port on Kivukoni Street. It is 12 km by road from the international airport, 5 km to the TAZARA Railway and a 1 hour flight to Zanzibar.
The Kilimanjaro Hotel is decorated using Suede furniture, cherry and myrtle wood, gold-leaf borders, uniquely created paintings and marble bathrooms. The spirit of the original Kilimanjaro Hotel magnificent heritage is captured in the public areas where limestone, marble and lacquered woods are apparent and walls are adorned with specially commissioned objets d'art.
All rooms offer an electronic key-card system to simultaneously switch on lights, air conditioning, LCD-TV and open the door. The suites are elegantly appointed and range from 31sqm to 215sqm, offering international satellite LCD TV with movie channels, multilingual telephone voice mail, broadband LAN internet access, tea and coffee making facilities, in room safe and mini-bar. The bathrooms are luxurious with separate multi jet shower and bath, offering a deluxe range of amenities. All guest rooms and suites are elegantly appointed with tropical interiors, dark rich timber floors with brightly accented fabrics, reflecting the colors of Africa.
At the Kilimanjaro Hotel you will find multi-lingual staff, a 24-hour concierge, 24-hour room service, laundry and dry-cleaning. There is car parking for well over 80 cars and a Casino Executive and Business center for business services. In addition you will find a Spa and Salon facility as well as in-hotel shopping, ranging from Phone shops to Jewellers.
Six restaurants and bars serve a wide variety of regional and international specialties. The Palm Restaurant is all-day casual dining, offering International cuisine offering both buffet and a la carte. The Palm is casual, relaxing and surrounded by landscaped gardens. Then the Oriental Restaurant has a fine selection of South East Asian cuisine. There is also a bar and a lobby lounge plus two private dining rooms for exclusive entertaining. Cocktails with our in-house band can be enjoyed daily on the Level 8.
Situated on the first floor is the luxury Anantara Spa and fitness centre. Here, a 20-metre infinity swimming pool, steam bath, sauna, solarium and private treatment rooms with massage and cosmetic facilities are available.
