Twenty kilometres upstream from Mwaleshi, Kutandala Camp is also situated on the banks of the Mwaleshi River. This small, personal, walking camp is run by Rod and Guz, who have been in the North Luangwa for years and built up a good personal following.
Rod's an excellent guide; Guz caters superbly, and makes some of the best chocolate cake in Zambia!
Its four grass-and-pole chalets accommodate a maximum of six guests and are simple but comfortable, with en-suite flush toilets and hot showers. Like Mwaleshi Camp, Kutandala is best visited for three to five nights.
Kutandala's activities concentrate on walking safaris; no game drives are offered here.
Kutandala combines well with camps in the South Luangwa, and also with trips to Shiwa Ng'andu and possibly even the offbeat Mutinondo Wilderness Lodge.
