TentsKwihala Camp, Ruaha National Park, Tanzania The large cream walk-in tents at Kwihala Camp are very comfortable and airy. There is plenty of space to move around in, and the rooms all have a stylish simplicity to them. There is no over-the-top furniture, but rather simple practical furniture with a stylish flair. For example the white cotton curtains hang from a lovely iron rail adorned in African beads. The tea and coffee cups are amongst the hand made blue pottery from Nairobi with the signature baobab on them. There is also a wooden dressing table with a leather directors chair – which is beautifully made yet simple. Even the bedspread has a large embroidered baobab on it – everything matches, yet it isn't gaudy. In front of the tents is your own little shaded veranda. From here you can sit in a comfortable directors chair and look out over the bush. To one side of the tent, through a set of curtains is the en-suite bathroom. Here you will find a large wooden surface with a beautiful sink – again made in the handmade blue pottery and a matching soap dispenser. There is also a flush chemical toilet – and though it has quiet a chemical smell because all of the waste goes into a tank buried beneath the ground, it is very clean. On the other side of the bathroom you will also find a bucket shower. Though it has to be said, that the bucket shower does not really look any different from a normal shower. You will need to ask the staff for some warm water – they will then fill a tank from outside your tent. Then when you turn on the shower tap – you will have nice warm water, and plenty of it.
