Both of the archipelago's better-known lodges are on Benguerra Island. South African run, Marlin Lodge has 19 large, thatched, luxury chalets above the beach. Each has an en-suite bathroom, a deck overlooking the ocean and a staircase down to the beach.
Marlin's large bar and large dining area opens out onto a vast wooden sundeck with loungers around a swimming pool, and a new 'Beauty & Wellness Centre'. It specialises in big game fishing, and also offers PADI diving, snorkelling and motorised water sports. Hire of wind-surfers and small sail-boats is free. Marlin is a relaxed, unpretentious, quite social and very smoothly run.
