The Garden Suites at Mchanga beach Lodge are very similar in style to the Sea-facing Lodge Rooms and are the same in cost, though as the name suggests they do not have a seaview. However this is more than compensated for with additional space both inside and on the terrace outside.

The Garden Suites at Mchanga have a small veranda at the front with a couple of chairs and a table. Then they also have an additional small outside area with more chairs and a sofa. There are doors leading from both the outside areas into the rooms. These doors are like stable doors, where the top half and the bottom half can be opened separately. The top part of the door is glass and the bottom half is solid wood.

The rooms have been put together thoughtfully – the sheets on the beds are pure percale cotton, and there is a basket where you will find a beach towel. Bottled water is also provided. The Garden Suites at Mchanga Beach Lodge have a relatively large lounge area, which can also double up an extra bed for children. This makes these rooms perfect for a small family. The sofas are comfortably cushioned with a blue colour scheme which matches the throw on the bed.

Both of these suites at Mchanga Beach Lodge have white-washed walls and polished stone floors, with very high ceilings. The large beds are hand-made and the materials for the soft furnishings are traditional fabrics – all of this helps to make these rooms feel part of their surroundings. You do feel like you are on Zanzibar.

The suites also have air-conditioning and a fan for warm nights.

The en-suite bathroom is set through an arched doorway – here you will find a powerful hot-and-cold shower, a flush toilet and a ceramic sink set into a moulded stone surface.

The bathrooms are plainly decorated, and spotlessly clean. Little touches like a good mirror light and local clove soap to refresh your skin after swimming, reflect the owners' attention to detail.
