Mushara Bush Camp

 - Etosha National Park, Namibia
Read 4 traveller reviews of Mushara Bush Camp

Opened on August 1st 2009, Mushara Bush Camp is the newest property of the Mushara Collection, in addition to Mushara Lodge, Mushara Outpost and Villa Mushara. They're all set within the same reserve, on the eastern edge of Etosha National Park. Owned by Marc and Mariza Pampe, Mushara Bush Camp is specifically designed to give families a comfortable, affordable base from where to explore Etosha's wildlife.

None of the Expert Africa team have yet visited Mushara Bush Camp, but here is what we know about it:

Mushara Bush Camp has 16 tents, built from wood, canvas and local limestone – materials which help keep the tents cool in the hot afternoon sun. They are spacious and airy, with roof-to-floor windows, small private verandas, and en-suite bathrooms overlooking the surrounding bush. Each room is equipped with a fan, mosquito nets, a safe and a tea/coffee station. Four tents have been built for families, with an additional sleeper couch to accommodate two small children.

The main area at Mushara Bush Camp includes a guest lounge, a bar and a restaurant; breakfast, lunch and dinner are usually served on the camp's thatched veranda. Beside this, there's a swimming pool to relax and cool off from the heat, and a secure parking area. For its younger guests, Mushara Bush Camp has a kiddies' pool and play area, supervised by childminders. In the early evenings, a camp fire is lit for guest to sit around and enjoy the end of the day.

Activities from Mushara Bush Camp focus on morning and afternoon game drives into Namibia's prime national park - Etosha. The wildlife in Etosha is fantastic, most of Africa's big game can be found here, and the camp is a mere 8km from the eastern entrance at von Lindequist Gate – an ideal distance if you're travelling with small children.

In conclusion… Mushara Bush Camp seems like a very family-friendly, relaxed and affordable place to stay near Etosha National Park. It's ideal for self-drive guest, and offers a down-to-earth bush camp experience.
