Nossob Rest Camp, set within the Kgalagadi National Park, takes advantage of the park's spectacular wilderness which is shared with neighboring Botswana.
While the park gets relatively few visitors due to its location, it is an ideal spot for game viewing with lion, wildebeest and gemsbok all finding a home in the 38,000km² park. The area is also known for cheetah and the cheeky meerkats, who thrive in the Kalahari dunes.
Nossob Rest Camp itself is fairly basic, with many visitors just camping here. There are also seven slightly different types of chalets available. The sizes and number of beds in each chalet vary up to, for example, the family cottage which can sleep up to six – and is ideal for small families.
All of them provide little more than the basics, and all are only available on a self-catering basis.
That said, the good news is that you will have access to communal cooking facilities, and Nossob does have a simple shop, offering basic foodstuffs – including plenty of tins and frozen meats (though only the occasional fresh vegetables). So if you're used to fending for yourself, then the 'self-catering' here, with all cooking and eating utensils supplied, can be a lot of fun.
Nossob restcamp is very centrally-located within the heart of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park; see our . Map of the Kgalagadi
Nossob Restcamp is pretty basic in terms of accommodation and facilities – but if you don't mind that then it's a great spot to really enjoy the wilderness, and the best game that the park can offer.
Lodge overview

Ideal length of stay: The Kgalagadi is a park that needs your trip to get the best from it; if you wiz in and out you may be disappointed. Nossob Rest Camp review
We spent one night at Nossob - and again the accommodation is fair, but basic. The location of this camp makes it an ideal stop as you travel around the park - and the Carnivores exhibition is really...
