Thatched roomPalmwag Lodge, Damaraland, Namibia Palmwag's rooms do differ slightly in construction – with some standing in pairs, semi-detached, and others grouped together – but all have broadly similar facilities and space, and all cost the same. Typically they are all very similar inside; simply but well decorated with white-washed walls and crisp white linen sheets on the beds. They've been renovated several times since we first visited here (in the late 1980s), and are now looking better than they ever have. Each room has a slightly different colour scheme, but all have bedside tables with reading lamps and a wardrobe to store your clothes – although some are wooden wardrobes, other rooms have open-sided rustic units made from reeds, whilst a few have a built-in space made of tiles. All the rooms have mosquito nets over the beds, and either a ceiling fan or standing fan – and there's a plan to install air-con units in 2008. Each room has a functional and clean en suite bathroom with shower, wash basin and toilet. Hot and cold water are on tap but no toiletries are provided except for soap.
