There are four Upepo Suites at Ras Kutani, and they are wonderful; raised high up on a hill behind the Lagoon and Beach cottages, they command spectacular views of the sea and are very luxurious and stylish.

Each suite is a vast white-washed cottage with a thatch roof and large mosquito gauze windows. Though they don't have air-conditioning or a fan – their openness allows the breeze to pass through meaning that these suites stay delightfully cool.

Inside the white-washed cottage in the middle of the room sits an enormous bed draped in mosquito netting, with crisp white bed sheets teamed with a colourful throw.

The rooms are actually very plain, in a stylishly minimal way – but this means that they're light and airy and really very lovely to be in. We love these rooms: they're fantastic!

The en-suite bathrooms in the suites are are set through a door to one side of the bedroom. They have plenty of space and include his-and-hers sinks, flush toilet and a hot and cold shower.

The white-washed tiles, cream tiled floors and white billowing curtains give the bathrooms the same crisp minimalist feel as the rooms.
