Safari Tents

Serengeti Migration Camp, Serengeti Migration Area, Tanzania

The tented rooms at Serengeti Migration Camp are comfortable, spacious and stylish. Each sits on a raised wooden platform, with wooden doors, part stone and part and canvas walls, and a canvas roof. So parts of the room are solid, whilst other parts feel like a tent.

The interiors of the rooms at Migration Camp are nicely done, with highly polished wooden floors, wide French windows, comfortable beds and a lounging area. The lounge area consists of a wide leather armchair and coffee table, and there is also a writing table.

Next to the en-suite is some hanging space for your clothes – this is made from canvas and wood and has a neat yet rustic look to it. Toweled bathrobes hang here which we thought was a thoughtful touch. You will also find an umbrella– just in case there is the odd spot of rain

The rooms feel really bright and cool due to the fact that there are plenty of mosquito gauze windows. These allow the breeze to pass through the tent, although if this isn't enough, then the rooms also have fans.

Large French windows at the front of the Serengeti Migration Camp's rooms, open up onto a wide veranda, that runs the length of your room. There are directors' chairs to sit in; in the late afternoon sun, this is a really pleasant place to relax.

One issue of the tented rooms at Serengeti Migration Camp is that the path between the rooms and the main areas runs right past them. Thus as people walk along it, they can see onto some of the verandas. It's also sufficiently close that you can hear passers-by chatting as they walk past.

The en-suite bathrooms at Serengeti Migration Camp sit behind canvas curtains, to one side of the bedroom. Here you will find a beautiful dark wooden surface, into which twin his-and-hers sinks are set. The sinks are beautifully crafted pottery in a dark glaze with a metallic quality to it. Then above the sinks hang his-and-hers mirrors.

To one side of the sinks, behind a small dividing wall is a proper flush-toilet, and to the other is a hot-and-cold shower. The shower here was fantastic, powerful and really hot – which was just what we needed after a long day out on safari.

A small number of toiletries were provided by Migration Camp, but we were not particularly impressed by their quality and chose to use our own instead.
