Run by Busanga Trails, Shumba Camp is a basic bush-camp, with four chalets - two tented and two thatched - about three hours game drive north of Lufupa. It stands on a picturesque island of large fig trees, in the middle of the Busanga Plains. Each of its chalets has twin beds, a shelf and a mirror; they share showers and flush toilets.
On one side of the camp, a high viewing platform overlooks the floodplain. The open terrain here contrasts well with the bush near Lufupa and is ideal for locating resident prides of lion on their nocturnal hunting trips.
A stay at Shumba is always part of a whole trip which includes time at Lufupa Lodge, and sometimes with a stop at Kafwala Rapids Camp.
