Songwe Village

 - Livingstone & Victoria Falls, Zambia
Read 3 traveller reviews of Songwe Village

If you'd like more contact with the local people, then Songwe Village is the place for you. Perching on a spectacular gorge, 120m above the Zambezi River, each of Songwe's eight comfortable huts has en-suite flush toilet, a hot shower and commanding views. Meals are traditional food of a good standard, usually eaten together, sometimes followed by singing or dancing around the fire.

The area is steeped in history. Nearby Mukuni Village is 700 years old and home to most of the lodge's team, who will introduce you to the people and their traditions. Songwe balances comfort and authenticity and is an involving place to stay.

Songwe Village is an established lodge (it was formerly called 'Songwe Point') and itineraries often combine a stay at Songwe with one or more of its three sister-camps in Botswana: Lagoon, Lebala and Kwara.
