Swakopmund Guesthouse

 - Swakopmund & Walvis Bay, Namibia
Read 3 traveller reviews of Swakopmund Guesthouse

Swakopmund Guesthouse is set in Swakopmund's town centre, just a short walk from the beach and main shopping area. Formerly used as a holiday home by its owners, the Borg family, the guesthouse has been revamped and officially opened in December 2008. None of the Expert Africa team have visited Swakopmund Guesthouse yet, but here is what we know about it.

Swakopmund Guesthouse has 11 rooms, divided into four standard and seven luxury rooms. The luxury rooms are slightly bigger than the standard rooms, but all come with the same facilities, including en-suite bathrooms, white linen sheets, satellite TVs, in-room safes, mini-bars and tea/coffee stations. The soft furnishings and wallpaper portray tranquil ocean and beach scenes which are in keeping with its location.

In addition, Swakopmund Guesthouse has one family suite with two bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen, and a sitting room complete with chairs and settees – ideal for a self-catering family holiday.

Central facilities include a dining room, where a buffet-style breakfast is served in the morning, a lounge area, as well as a secure parking area for self-drivers. A town/airport shuttle and laundry service is also available.

Whilst staying here, possible activities range from sand-boarding and quad biking, to parasailing and sea-kayaking; Swakopmund is well known as Namibia's capital of adrenaline sports. Families and quiet minds can enjoy visits to Swakopmund's aquarium, dolphin cruises through the waters of Walvis Bay Lagoon, or camel rides at a farm outside Swakopmund.

In conclusion… Swakopmund Guesthouse promises friendly service and comfortable, high-quality rooms, close to the beach and other amenities. It certainly seems like an upmarket bed-and-breakfast establishment, and has an ecofriendly approach, making use of recycled water and solar energy.
