Terra Africa

 - Windhoek, Namibia
Read 29 traveller reviews of Terra Africa

Situated in one of Windhoek's leafy suburbs, Terra Africa is only a five-minute drive from the city centre and an ideal base for visiting Windhoek. At this lodge you can admire good views over the southern valleys of Windhoek. It is set in a residential road behind a gate adorned with bougainvillea. It was renovated and redecorated throughout when its new owners took over in November 2006.

Terra Africa is the first accommodation in Namibia that is not just a guesthouse, but also operates as an art gallery. A good range of African and Namibian art functions as permanent décor, while the lodge regularly hosts exhibitions and sales. Art pieces are displayed everywhere around the guesthouse, even in the guest rooms and the gardens surrounding the lodge.

After receiving a warm welcome from the Terra Africa-staff, you will be led to one of the 10 individually decorated guest rooms. Each room is comfortably furnished with either twin beds or a double bed, wrapped in white linen. Digital satellite TV, telephones, air-conditioning and ceiling fans, coffee and tea making facilities, a mini-bar, wireless internet access and an electronic safe are available in every room.

Terra Africa's main facilities include a heated outdoor pool, as well as a pool-side patio and a sun deck for relaxation. The lodge's landscaped gardens are peppered with secluded spots to sit and read, or simply to relax and admire the African art around you.

The restaurant provides a small a la carte menu with a selection of traditional Namibian cuisine, to enjoy in the dining room or outside on the patio. For larger groups of guests a 'braai' can be arranged, including home-baked bread, salads and Namibian meat. Terra Africa also has a selection of fine wines, Namibian-brewed beer and liqueurs.
