Tented Chalet

Zibalianja, Kwando-Linyanti area, Botswana

The rooms at Zibalianja are traditional “Meru” tents with lovely partly open air bathrooms built onto the back. The tents are constructed on raised wooden decks, reached by several steps, with large balconies to the front, affording sweeping views of the surrounding plains. Each tent also has a bird-bath out the front, to encourage winged visitors.

The twin beds are decorated with mud-cloth throws and cushions, and are arranged so that when you wake up in the morning, you can look directly out of the gauzed front of the tent onto the plains. The beds are backed by a wooden head-board, which also doubles up as a dressing table. There are trunks for storage and hooks for hanging up items, although no wardrobes as such. Mosquito repellent, bug spray and mosquito coils (lit nightly by the camp's staff) are provided.

The partly open air wooden-panelled bathroom is reached via a zipped door to the rear of the tent. There is a flushing toilet, sink with mirror set in a lovely polished sideboard, a shower with views of date palms towering above, and hot and cold water on tap. Shampoo, soap, body lotion and shower gel are provided.
