The Makokola Retreat review
The room needed a good clean inch of dust is not good. Food was good as long as your waiter understood you when you ask for butter the tomato sauce arrived! But the place was lovely the best bit for us was walking down the empty beach and visiting the local village catching up with the chief a lady (surprised).
Swimming in fresh water lake Malawai was surreal.
Club Makokola excelled its self,
We were welcomed and upgraded by Manager to a Suite.
Position and facilities excellent.
Pool and beach very clean and inviting.
We enjoyed a free boat trip to bird island, seeing Fish Eagles and feeding tropical fish
Club Makokola review
From Mvvu we went to Club Makakola which was a totally different side to Malawi, being on the lakeshore. Who needs the sea when you have this huge lake with its sandy beaches and clear blue water? When we sat by the pool overlooking the lake you could be anywhere. Seeing is definitely believing!
The ‘room’ we were given was extremely spacious, consisting of two bedrooms and a bathroom, joined by a long hallway. The accommodation and staff, along with the food were, again superb.
While here, as with most of our stays, we walked outside the complex, pleasing many of the local craftsmen when we bought their wares. The golf course was excellent and although we did not have a game, we were given a guided tour of the course, which boasted a variety of different bird life.
Totally chilled!
Super beach and gardens just the place to unwind after the hard work of safaries. The chalet was fine although I do not think we got the superior room we had paid for it was a family room.
The view from the room of the beach was great to wake up to.
The food was good if you went to dinner early as the puddings tended to be all gone if you left it too late!
Not much oppurtunity to get out and about. ie to nearest town or Cape McClear unless you paid a lot of money for hotel excursions or so it semed.
