
Roan safari: In full
This safari begins in the north with3 nights on the Nyika Plateau, followed by 4 nights on the western shore of Lake Malawi.
Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on your scheduled overnight flight with South African Airways to Lilongwe, via Johannesburg.Day 2
1 night at Chelinda Lodge (full board & activities) | Nyika Plateau, Malawi
On arrival at Lilongwe Airport you will be met and transferred by air to Mzuzu and onwards by road to your lodge. Nyika Plateau, at an altitude of 2 500m is a remote area which protects undulating montane grasslands, with endemic herbs and heathers. You spend 3 nights at Chelinda Lodge. Built out of local timber and stone, Chelinda Lodge has stunning views over the rolling hills. Days 3-4
2 nights at Chelinda Lodge (full board & activities) | Nyika Plateau, Malawi
Your days here will be spent on game drives looking for the large herds of roan, reedbuck, zebra and eland. Leopard are also occasionally seen. It is also possible to do walking, fly fishing in the nearby dams and mountain biking.Day 5
1 night at Chintheche Inn (full board) | Shore of Lake Malawi, Malawi
This morning you are driven by road to the western shore of Lake Malawi where you spend the next 4 nights at Chinteche Inn. This small, simple lodge is located on a lovely stretch of beach.Days 6-8
3 nights at Chintheche Inn (full board) | Shore of Lake Malawi, Malawi
Your days at Chintheche Inn will be spent snorkelling, sailing, fishing, scuba diving, boat trips or simply relaxing on the beach or beside the pool.Day 9
On your final morning you will be transferred by road to Lilongwe airport to connect onto your overnight South African Airways flight to London via Johannesburg. Alternatively you may wish to spend some additional time on Lake Malawi. See our selection of beach add-on trips.Day 10
After a superb trip, you arrive at London Heathrow early in the morning with enough time to make any connections for your onward journey home.Day 11
After your final morning on the lake, you will be transferred back to Likoma Island by boat followed by a light aircraft transfer to Lilongwe Airport.
