This sketch map shows the Ngorongoro Crater, in northern Tanzania, with its roads and the key safari lodges.
The floor area of the Ngorongoro Crater is in the middle of this map, with thin red lines showing the roads for vehicles on the crater floor. On the crater floor is Lake Magadi, and nearby are the Lerai Forest and Gorigor Swamp.
Note the access roads to the crater: how vehicles get up and down the crater’s steep sides. There is one to the east, starting near the Sopa Lodge; one to the east; and a third to the south. The thicker semi-circular road around the southern side of the Crater (marked red) is the main crater rim road.
