Starts: Vilanculos Airport
Vilanculos to Benguerra by helicopter
On arrival at the airport, you will be escorted to a private lounge ready to board your helicopter for Benguerra Island. During the ten-minute flight, feast your eyes on the turquoise waters framing pure white sandbanks below, before landing at the lodge – and a short walk to reception.
Benguerra Lodge
Benguerra Lodge, on the western coast of Mozambique's Benguerra Island, is positioned on its own beautiful palm-fringed bay about a kilometre down the beach from Azura. The lodge was recently taken over by a top safari operator who knows how to deliver luxury and high quality. We have not seen it since they refurbished it, though we know that they replaced the traditional north African design with a more contemporary beachy look.

Benguerra to Vilanculos by helicopter
There's usually time to savour your last morning at Benguerra, perhaps on the beach, before walking to your helicopter for the ten-minute flight to the mainland. As you cross the clear waters of the Indian Ocean, look out for traditional wooden fishing dhows below before you land at Vilanculos.
