Leaf-nosed Bat Fly-in Trip: In full
This 12-day trip takes in two wonderfully off-beat parts of Mozambique - combining some time on safari with some time on the beach; start your holiday with 4 nights on safari in Gorongosa National Park, followed by 5 nights at Nuarro Mozambique where you can enjoy a relaxing beach break in a remote location.
This trip includes international flights from London with South African Airways and then internal flights with SA Airlink and Air Mozambique. The internal flights required to get between these remote areas are not daily, and so talk to us about how to best plan your trip.
Day 1
Depart in the evening on your overnight flight from London to Johannesburg with South African Airways.Days 2-5
4 nights at Kubatana Camp (full board) | Gorongosa National Park, Mozambique
On arrival in Johannesburg, connect onto a 90-minute flight to Beira, the nearest airport to Gorongosa National Park. On arrival, you will be met by a driver and he will take you to the gates of the Park. This is a three-hour drive through rural Mozambique, which can give you an insight into local life. There is also an option to fly this for a small supplement. Your guide from Kubatana Camp will meet you at the park gates. Spend your days on safari, either on foot or in a vehicle and the adventurous might also want to fly-camp for a night or two. The game here isn't as prolific as other African parks but the guiding is fantastic and the real draw is that this is the only camp in the entire national park!Days 6-10
5 nights at Nuarro Mozambique (full board) | Nampula Province, Mozambique
On your final morning you'll be driven back to Beira, where you pick up a scheduled plane to Nampula, a large provincial town near the coast. You will be met by a driver to embark on a fascinating four-hour drive to Nuarro Mozambique. It's a fairly long drive, but well worth it. Nuarro Mozambique is a fantastic eco lodge in the heart of Mozambique's coastal wilderness. Surrounded by small villages Nuarro has a stunning spot on the beach with spacious and private cottages, all with solar lighting and very clean composting loos. The diving and snorkelling here is exceptional and for those interesting in local communities, the village visits are also fantastic!Day 11
Depart mid-morning after a leisurely breakfast, in order to catch your flight back to Johannesburg. Once here you can connect onto your overnight flight back to London with South African Airways.Day 12
You will arrive at London Heathrow in the early morning, having had a fantastic safari and beach holiday in two of Africa's newest and most interesting destinations. You also handily have plenty of time for onward connections.See Prices & details for the precise dates/prices for this trip - and all the fine print.
