Hakusembe Lodge review

Good stopover on the way to the Caprivi region.
Typical stay is one night.
Nice setting on the Okavango river looking over the Angolan side and the sunset.
Geographically, it was interesting to be at the beginning of our Okavango water experience after all the sand.

I recommend the sunset boat trip and a visit to the local living museum village (Mbunza).
Very close to Rhundu if you need to buy provisions for a road trip.

We were given the villa instead of a bungalow - nice and roomy - closet was upstairs so we used the banister and chair downstairs. Television didn't work - villa interior was a bizarre set up.

Hakusembe Lodge review

Wonderful sight of people going about their daily lives on the Angolan side of the river.

Very good river trip on offer at the camp. Very good service and food in the evening. We were given a family room, which was large and comfortable.

Hakusembe Lodge review

The rooms here really do need some updating. The furnishings are dark and old fashioned whereas now people like a white and fresh look to places. We spoke to the new co-owner, Andreio of Gondwana, who told us that he has only just taken over and plans are afoot to completely renovate. Edison our guide was great on the evemig boat trip, very knowledgeable on birds and being the only customers we learnt a lot from him. The dining facilities also need freshening up and this is going to happen apparently.

Hakusembe Lodge review

Comfortable lodge with excellent staff and food. The Eland steak that I had here was the best meal of the holiday.

The rooms are set right on the river providing a beautiful location. We only stayed one night here and didn't go on any organised excursions.

We appreciated having a fridge in the room to keep our water and milk cold.

Hakusembe Lodge review

Hakusembe very much has the feel of a place where people stay for one night, which is probably the case. One felt rather processed, and the owners didn't seem terribly interested.

The evening boat trip was an exception, and our boat captain was enthusiastic and knowledgeable regarding the interesting birdlife along the river.

The pool though usable was a haven for wildlife, especially mosquitoes, and perhaps needed a little more attention.
Lovely setting on the banks of the river.

Room was small and needed an uplift. River trip was excellent and setting delightful. Enjoyed an excellent steak.
