Ndhovu Safari Lodge review
The location of the lodge is good with excellent bird life in the area. We did not take part in organised activities.

Relaxed & laid-back atmosphere.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent food and lovely hand-painted crockery which was also on sale in the shop.
Riverside location with hippos in the water & elephants walking by on the other side.
Good for birding too.
We didn't take part in the activities as we just wanted to relax.
Messing about in boats 3
When you drive into this camp it is difficult to gauge what to expect but once you have met the staff and been shown around you quickly realise that this is a great placew to relax and I would recommend staying in the house boat on the river, looks a bit rickerty but it was the best nights sleep i have had in a long while.
The river cruise is pretty basic and you make of it what you can - we had a great evening. The food here is excellent and the wine even better still.
A great stop off next to an excellent NP - Mahango is small but is full of game and birdlife and deserves at least a day to see the best of it.
Excellent location on riverbank
Whilst the location of the tents were excellent, we believe that they are rather dated now and therefore can no longer be classed as luxury as described in their brochure.
However any shortfall in expectations were compensated by the riverside location and "nightly grunting" from nearby hippo's.
Ndhovu Safari Lodge review
Monica and Johann (not sure about spelling) were hosting us here while the owners were away on a break. The location immediately on the river offered us views across the river of hippos and elephants and, early in the morning, water buffalos. We went on the evening boat trip (N$165 pp) and this was excellent. We saw more hippos, crocodiles, elephants, monkeys and a wide range of birds. We also had a water monitor at the foot of the bank immediatley below our room.
The rooms here are more basic - based on a tent construction -, and we could achieve no more that a small flow of water in our shower.
Interestingly, food is served at a common table - meal times being 8 for both breakfast and dinner.
There is a swimming pool which was clean, although had a tendancy to get leaves in it quickly from the nearby trees.
This place seemed much more personal and at home than most other places we visited.
Great views of hippos at Ndhovu Safari Lodge
Very helpful staff. Breakfast was early and dinner late, there were drinks available during the day but no food at all not even to buy.
We were in a sedan car and it was not suitable to use for the game drive so we paid for a game drive which was very good.
Loved the sparkling wine I was given by the lodge for my birthday!
Ndhovu Safari Lodge review
We spent two nights at Ndhovu and we loved it.
The hippos passing our tent at night, the friendly staff and the excellent food (do order the pizza when you're there) made our stay quite memorable.
As keen birdwatchers we enjoyed both the gardens and the proximity to Mahango Park - it is a superb location.
very very friendly
A contender for the friendliest place I have ever stayed
Chris the manager was an amazing host always on hand, the setting was superb even though the Hippos tended to wake you in the middle of the night with the noise, food fantastic, I would recommend this place to anybody
