Great views of hippos at Ndhovu Safari Lodge

Very helpful staff. Breakfast was early and dinner late, there were drinks available during the day but no food at all not even to buy.

We were in a sedan car and it was not suitable to use for the game drive so we paid for a game drive which was very good.

Loved the sparkling wine I was given by the lodge for my birthday!

Ndhovu Safari Lodge review

We spent two nights at Ndhovu and we loved it.

The hippos passing our tent at night, the friendly staff and the excellent food (do order the pizza when you're there) made our stay quite memorable.

As keen birdwatchers we enjoyed both the gardens and the proximity to Mahango Park - it is a superb location.

very very friendly

A contender for the friendliest place I have ever stayed

Chris the manager was an amazing host always on hand, the setting was superb even though the Hippos tended to wake you in the middle of the night with the noise, food fantastic, I would recommend this place to anybody

Fun with the Hippos!

Loved the tent's location by the river, the privacy provided and the view.

Dark walk to the main hut and accompanying hippo noise and stories made this a little scary on first night. Camp manager Chris initially seemed very laid back, but possibly shy. However, became more attentive and was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Food in the camp was very good and the boat trip was excellent.

Took the game drive around nearby park and then returned in our own vehicle.

Ndhovu Safari Lodge review

Fantastic lodge on the river.

Really great to hear the hippos at night and see them by day.

Michael was a great guide who took us to his home in the village and also to the village school where the kindergarten children entertained us.

Ndhovu Safari Lodge review

After arriving by boat, unexpectedly - due to flooding, and departing similarly, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Ndhovu Safari Lodge review

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Everyone was very friendly and always on hand to help us enjoy all the activities that the lodge provided, but, also happy to let us have our own time to relax. we had avery good tour of Micheal's local village and the school.

All the meals we had were very good.

Disappointment at Ndhovu

This place is in need of care and maintenance, starting with the broken front gate secured by a piece of old chain. We did not consider that the electric wiring in our accommodation would be regarded as safe by european standards. The camp somehow lacked a welcoming atmosphere.

The camp and activities were being run in the absence of the owner (only temporarily we were told) by a young man who was clearly both stretched and stressed, and who did not communicate well.

The amount of food prepared for meals was finely judged. There was no choice of cereal for breakfast, and orange coloured jelly and red jam came in plastic catering sachets. Extras were expensive, which made this by far our most costly stay. This proved annoying when contrasted with the standard of the camp.

We question whether this establishment was really up to Expert Africa standard. We would not be inclined to return.
