Nkwazi Lodge review

Its lucky we were only here one night. No electricity - just as Chris tried to warn us in his guide book. What he didn't tell us is that no electricity meant no hot water (pumped solar) and that they only suplly two oil lamps in the night to light what is a pretty big room.

The owner and son are not the friendliest of people and the staff seem to have had little training. They have six horses who roam around and keep the grass around the chalets short - however they also leave their calling card behind so walking to the dining room is a bit of an adventure.

Nkwazi Lodge review

This is a lovely lodge in terms of rooms and particularly location looking over the river and seeing a bit of rural African life. The birds around are fantastic and our children enjoyed the pool. We didn't do any trips here but they offer a boat cruise which I imagine would be nice.

This was however unfortunately the only lodge in our entire trip in which we would hesitate to recommend and sadly it is all due to 1 member of staff. The one particular waitress/assistant was sullen to the point of being rude throughout our stay despite the fact we were the only guests in the lodge and we generally felt quite uncomfortable because of this.

The barman was great though.

Nkwazi Lodge review

An individual lodge. Which works with the local community. The food is excellent and plenty of it.

Rooms a little faded, but perfectly fine for an overnight stay.

Experience in such 'open' accommodation somewhat marred by strong winds and thunderstorms throughout the night. Mosquito nets near end of useful life!

Good overnight stop on the way to Caprivi. Friendly and helpful hosts.

A very warm welcom by the staff. A very nice lodge with a friendly atmosphere. The chalet had good standard and everything were clean and neat.

Interesting to learn about how the lodge contributed to the community, very positive initiative.

Nkwazi Lodge review

A lovely setting by the river. The only activity which we had time to do was the sunset cruise. This was an enjoyable experience.

Again excellent meals. We did feel that once off the main track it would have been helpful if there had been a few more signs particularly where tracks converged.

Nkwazi Lodge review

Good location for an overnight stop between Mushara (Eastern Etosha) & Nxamaseri Lodge (Okavango panhandle) with views across the river to Angola. It would have been possible to miss this lodge & do the jouney in one day - perhaps Expert Africa could suggest this but with a 'disclaimer' that it would need an early start & leave no margin for delay.

Rooms in need of an upgrade - mosquito nets need repair/replacement, & only paraffin lamp after generator turned off. There is a longish walk in the dark across a ditch to get to rooms from central restaurant area. The latter was good with good food & service.

Nkwazi Lodge review

A nice little lodge in a lovely setting on the banks of the Okavango and overlooking Angola. Somewhat difficult to access due to excess water in the Okavango washing away their road.

However thay did an excellent job of getting us in and out by boat and even washed our car which was carrying a large amount of Etosha mud at that point. We were the only patrons.

Mosquito nets were provided.
