Erongo Wilderness Lodge review
The wonderful hosts, Mike & Carol, are working hard to give guests an outstanding experience. Their efforts paid off with us - we spent an enchanted two days here, a wonderful finale to our Namibia experience. The staff at Erongo are in the same mould as Kulala and Doro Nawas. They are obviously well trained and highly motivated. They engage with guests, do everything they can to meet guests' needs, are cheerful and positive and, when you get talking to them they are such interesting people. We learned a lot from them about the immediate area, Namibia and their own experiences and families.
The food is exceptional - it was original, tasty .... and very very filling ! The restaurant, with big open windows looking out onto the landscape, the waterhole and the resident porcupine, was a very atmospheric place. Carol and Mike were always there, greeting guests and checking that everything was meeting the quality thay expected.
Walks from the tent took us into and onto the local rocks: the views, the textures of the rocks and the sense of space are wondrous.
Our tent was an event in itself: built into the rock, marvellous views, and the fridge contained that all-important bottle of wine we needed to toast the sun as it set on our final evening in Namibia.

Fine for a 2 night stay, not enough walking to warrant more than that. Location is very good and management/staff were very helpful.
Afternoon tea is certainly worth partaking in (great cakes). We were sufficiently impressed by the sundowner walk that we did it both nights.
Relaxing at Erongo Wilderness
This was our second visit to this delightful camp and we chose it to relax for a couple of days before our travels started in earnest around Namibia. Mike and Carol treated us to a very special candlelit meal on the decking above the swimming pool to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and this was not only much appreciated but was a lovely start to our holiday.
The food was excellent as usual and we thoroughly enjoyed both the guided walks and excellent birding. We saw the most spectacular sunset on our last night when we climbed the rock for sundowners. From talking to fellow travellers this appears to be a little known camp but it's certainly a gem worth visiting.
A great place to walk in the hills
We loved this place! Beautiful hillwalks, excellent food (some of the best we had in 2 1/2 weeks in Namibia), and just a great attitude on the part of management.
The tents were very comfortable, although the very nervous might have problems with the bathrooms, which are open to the great outdoors.
well worth a visit
magnificent scenery and great walking. The accomodation on arrival gave us a feeling of dread but in fact was more than adequate.
Overall with excellent staff and warm welcoming hosts we felt this was a very good place to visit.

Great location, and really nice to be able to walk around a bit.
There always seemed to be something going on here, either Baboons or other noises and some lovely birds, plus some lovely porcupines in the evenings.
Erongo Wilderness Lodge review
Beautiful situation, with attractive communal areas and individual rooms placed among the rocky parts of the site with imaginative use of natural features in their design. Not an area with a wide range of animal life, other than the baboons, porcupines and dassies, but a selection of birds for the enthusiast.
The prime attraction of the lodge is the range of walks available, which were of varying length and difficulty. All offered interesting and scenic outings and the views from the surrounding hills were stunning, both at dawn and at dusk, as well as at other times of day. The guides were helpful and knowledgeable and friendly.
The level of service was excellent and the staff seemed genuinely pleased to be able to assist guests both at the lodge and in arranging things in the local town. The food was also of a very high quality and could not be faulted. Despite the high levels of attentive service and excellent food, the lodge was marked by a wonderfully relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, probably influenced largely by management and staff.
Our stay was totally relaxing while including a good level of walking activity, and overall was a really excellent experience.

Loved it - a very peaceful and relaxed final stay in Namibia.
The surroundings and views were delightful and we had a very enjoyable walk early one morning. Wish we'd stayed another night instead of returning to Windhoek.
Mike & Karen the temporary managers were very nice and made us feel very welcome.
Amazing Place Stay More Than 1 Night!
We stayed here for 2 nights and we could have easily stayed for more. We went on a waiting list to get into this lodge and I am so glad we stuck it out, if you love walking, want beautiful rocky scenary with plenty of wildlife this is the place, so relaxing. The staff here are fantastic really friendly and accommodating.
We stayed in what I think was there honeymoon suite and it was brilliant, all the chalets are essentially the same tented room attached to a purpose built bathroom just surrounded by nature and all decorated to an exceptional standard. You sometimes get a wake up call from the Baboons on the mountain behind which is useful if you are off for one of the walks which start really early to avoid the heat! The sundowner walk to the top of the Kopje is worth it for the views it really is breathtaking, and the guides are excellent.
The reastaurant area is a great place to relax chat to other guests and staff and from the terrace there is a view of the flood lit watering hole, but the real stars of the show are the porcupines that run up to the kitchen to steal scraps at night! During the day there are loads of Rock Dassie everywhere and Damara Dik Dik's!
It is really worth staying here it is lovely to take a walk in the early morning and spend the day just relaxing, especially if it is the end of your trip which sadly it was for us.

I wish I had booked in to stay here longer!
The area and its surroundings were amazing. Even the racket from the dassies overnight added to the experience!
Another great area for stretching the legs and getting some well needed exercise after driving around Etosha.
