Erongo Wilderness Lodge review

The setting of this camp is lovely, as is the opportunity to walk directly from the site and see baboons, dassies, lovebirds etc, and the self-guided Eagle walk and the guided Sundowner walk & 6am walk were very enjoyable, and Gelasuis our guide was friendly and informative. The accommodation was the least comfortable of any on our trip - the tent flapped noisily all night in the chilly brisk wind, which also made the outside bathroom distinctly unwelcoming (unlike Hoodia there is no inside alternative). Maybe in summer the tents would be more appealing, but in early winter they spoilt an otherwise pleasant stay.

Stunning setting with great staff

Tented room very comfortable with good facilities. Layout of the site was very good with stunning views.

Guided walks very informative, especially Johnny and Koulis. The visit to Paula's cave was stunning and very enjoyable, and the staff that also attended were very good company. Food and dining service was also excellent.

Nice to have emphasis on walking and you can do self guided walks, the one we did we were able to watch a pair of Dik Dik for quite some time.

Erongo Wilderness Lodge review

This was our favourite place on the trip. Everything was first class from start to finish and we were looked after very well indeed, including a special birthday treat!

The tented bungalows are lovely and the views terrific.

All the staff were friendly and attentive and the food and wine excellent.

Bird feeding time at breakfast is spectacular, and being able to watch Small-spotted Genet and Porcupine over dinner is a real thrill!

Erongo Wilderness Lodge review

only 2 negatives about this stunning place,
1) The beds could benefit with mosquito nets.
2) They could do with a way for arriving guest`s to contact the lodge, if their is nobody at the parking area it is a bit of a trek to get to the reception.

But these are only slight niggles, we loved the place.

Erongo Wilderness Lodge review

One of the best places we stayed on this trip. Amazing location and views, great walks and definitely the best food we had in any lodge in Namibia. Excellent service all round.

Amazing situation inthe mountains with the walkways to the cabins yet very close to the main road.
Very good for those who like walks with excellent guides and marked paths for those who want to walk on their own. All these included in the price.
Very kind and helpful staff, very friendly.
Quite a lot of wild life with the Dassies and baboons

Erongo Wilderness Lodge review

Again, a lovely hotel in a great location. We really enjoyed the sundowner walk.

It was a shame we had to go home and didn't have more time there. The managers were new and very friendly and helpful.

Fab place to end our trip.

Relaxing

This was our last stop at the end of a three week trip and we used it to relax prior to the journey home. Different from the lodges we had stayed at in the sense that Erongo has tents set up under permanent thatched covers (same principle as a car port) with a rear entrance into a built bathroom with shower. It's all a matter of choice but 2 nights was enough for us in accommodation as simple as this though there are absolutely no complaints and it was very clean.

Service was friendly (though the lady who meets you and looks after luggage could do with a few more days at the charm school) and Brian the manager was always around to make sure you were happy. The food was OK and there was always a choice for main course at dinner. Activities are low key and we did nothing except a self-guided walk on the property.
