Palmwag Lodge

Thatched room

Palmwag's rooms differ slightly in construction – with some standing in pairs, semi-detached, and others grouped together – but all have broadly similar facilities and space, and all cost the same. They've been renovated several times since we first visited here in the late 1980s, but despite this were looking very tired during our last visit in 2010.

Typically they are simply decorated with white-washed walls and crisp white linen sheets on the beds. Each room has a slightly different colour scheme, but all have bedside tables with reading lamps and a wardrobe of some description – although some are wooden, while others are open-sided rustic units made from reeds, and a few are built in with tiles. All the rooms have mosquito nets over the beds, power points, a safe, and either a ceiling fan or standing fan, plus insect repellant and an emergency alarm.

Each room has a functional and clean en-suite bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. Hot and cold water are on tap but no toiletries are provided except for soap.
