Bullsport Guest Farm review

A real working farm with guest facilities as one of the income streams.

Rooms designed with a lot of concrete for fittings and furniture which works well both in appearance and function. Building works during our stay caused only minimal inconvenience.

Food pretty good with a germanic/african feel, such as zebra goulash! Owners helpful and pleasant but staff not the most forthcoming.

Some excellent walking, both guided and using maps provided by the ranch. Horseriding involved good, well schooled animals and interesting routes.

Bullsport Guest Farm review

Our hosts were fantastic and made us very welcome. It was nice that they ate with the guests as we got to know them and they were very good at getting people to mix together.

We had one of the new rooms that were completed this year and it had very comfortable beds with great duvets. Spacious rooms, sofa and 2 armchairs, a huge bathroom and a long, wide shelf to put bags on, if only all places had that. Very tastefully finished with a very nice colour scheme. The best we stayed in in Namibia.

We did a 4 hour walk on their property called the Quiver Tree Walk. The map and instructions we were given were very clear and easy to follow. It was most enjoyable.

Bullsport Guest Farm review

A lovely place to start with, perfect distance from Windhoek to travel on day one after the overnight flight.

Very cold and we needed the heaters but were fine once in bed. We were so excited to find zebra on the dinner menu. The biggest surprise was that it was pitch black by 6pm! Yes we should have realised as it was winter.

The next day we did the self guided zebra walk which was enjoyed by all before leaving the next day, we saw plenty of zebra and baboons. We would have been quite happy to have spent a 2nd night there.

Bullsport Guest Farm review

Location in the mountains made it an excellent base for walks even though we only managed the shorter ones. Just a few minutes from the farm ensured you were in a peaceful wilderness with amazing views and some close encounters with birds and animals. Horse riding also added to the experience - lovely well trained horses and a very knowledgeable guide.

The nights were very cold when we were there and we really appreciated the heaters in the lovely new rooms - beautifully designed and with loads of space.

It was lovely to start our trip as part of a family on the farm and find out about Namibia and the life there - Johanna had an amazing ability to mix people of different nationalities around her dinner table and manage to keep the conversations flowing in several languages! Excellent food and lovely cakes every afternoon.

Thanks too for the prompt and helpful puncture repair - in the end it was the only one of the trip but to know they could be fixed so easily made us feel more secure as we battled the roads in our 'bus' - not a good substitute for a 4x4 on those roads.

Bullsport Guest Farm review

Very comfortable and spacious.
Good walking trails well marked. (we did not participate in any other 'activity')

Slightly non plussed at the 'additional charges' itemisation, even for 'afternoon tea/cake', which tended to spoil atmosphere.

Bullsport Guest Farm review

Bullsport was ideal as a first stop as we drove straight from the airport. After a tiring journey It would have been nice to be greeted with a cold drink whilst listening to the arrival information (it was not the owners who met us on arrival).

We very much enjoyed being able to do some walking on our own. We feel that maybe the owners should consider charging a little more in order to pamper their guests (tea and coffee during the day and higher quality toiletries...) We were rested when we left and felt ready to discover Namibia.

Another nice welcome. Friendly personal service. Especially enjoyed "communal" dining with hosts and other guests. Enjoyed some of the many hiking trails.

Friendly Bullsport

We very much enjoyed our three nights here. Although the rooms are basic, they are clean and functional. The cost to stay here is also less that other lodges to reflect this. Ernst and Joanna are excellent hosts. We enjoyed their humour and warmth. This is an excellent location if you enjoy walking or horse riding, which is why we chose to stay for three nights. Ernst and Joanna will readily offer useful and informative advice on the area. The quiver trail is to be highly recommended as a good way to see the mountains, zebra and for an enjoyable walk.

The food is excellent and plentiful. Although it is a set menu, Joanna will do her best to accommodate something different. Sitting with other guests as well as our hosts at brekfast and for the evening meal allowed everyone to socialise and discuss their plans. We met some very interesting people and for us this meal time arrangement was a real strength of Bullsport.
