Relaxed base to visit Sossuvlei
Excellent welcome after long drive from Windhoek. Charming accommodation (spacious and stylish walk in shower room) in thatched rondavel, well spaced from its neighbours and with views over grassland to the horizon. Friendly and flexible service from all staff.
Excellent food and non menu items made to order (although I did have to explain to the cook how to make eggy toast!) Went horseriding at sundown and met my non-riding husband for drinks in glorious setting. Everyone seemed genuinely keen to ensure that we enjoyed your stay.
Super starry sky
Very helpful and considerate staff. Good packed breakfast for Sossusvlei trip.
Unfortunately, there seemed to be a problem in the kitchen one evening, and as a result the meal was undercooked, which was disappointing as the other meals were fine. However, we were not the only ones to mention this, and the staff were most concerned and apologetic. An allowance was made for this when we settled out bill on leaving.
A stunning location
The new 'Homestead' is located in a fantastic location. The accommodation places you right in the landscape. The facilities are excellent, though you need the blankets to keep out the late winter chill on windy nights.
The guided trip to the desert seemed a little expensive prior to departure but turned out to be excellent value for money, expectations were greatly exceeded.
Our guide was charming, informative and very relaxed enabling the day to unfold without the need to stick to a strict programme.
The duration of the trip seemed to be as long as we were happy to be out.
