Hoodia Desert Lodge review
Initial impression was that it might be a bit up-market for us! However our worries were soon dispelled by the friendliness of the welcome with refreshing drink and cool towels.
Wonderful vista. Very secluded.
Easy location for exploring Sesriem / Sossusvlei.
Produced the best steak (can't remember what animal) of the whole trip - and we ate a fair few!
Wonderful memories of Hoodia
The service was both professional and personal and the food the best we encountered on our trip.
We went on the all day excursion to Soussusvlei. The guide, Angula, was excellent and his knowledge and the excellent picnic lunch contributed to a very memorable day.
Great Lodge
The experience at Hoodia was one of our highlights of the trip. Thomas & Henriesa were the perfect hosts.
We were very fortunate to have Thomas be our guide to the Park. The whole day was magic from sunrise to sunset.
I will not forget the spectacular lunch that was set before us as we looked on the apricot colored sand dunes and the Springbok wandering through the fields.
Hoodia Desert Lodge
We had a memorable stay here mainly because of our tour with Thomas, an owner of the lodge, who took us early morning to the dunes at sunrise, returning 13 hours later! He shared his knowledge and love of the area, climbing a dune, visiting Dead Vlei and serving us lunch and tea in beautiful settings, with humour and lots of stories.
The rooms were great - very private with good space, and an outside tub to stargaze. The food was very good and the staff warm and welcoming.
Hoodia Desert Lodge review
Fabulous location, beautiful rooms, extremely helpful staff. The Hoodia was a definite high point of our trip.
We travelled with Angula from the Lodge into Sossusvlei and had a memorable day amongst the dunes, finished with a fabulous picnic lunch under the trees. Highly recommended.
Hoodia Desert Lodge review
Again we all loved this, and again such a contrast to the other 2 places. Food and staff were excellent. Could not have been more friendly and helpful, especially the suggestion of taking packed breakfasts to Sosossvlei which is over an hours drive away with nowhere to pick up food except a few things at the park entrance, but no sandwiches or anything similar.
We really enjoyed the sundowner on our first night, watching the sun set over the Namibian desert and then seeing the stars at night - just magic.
Great access to the desert and the dunes which we climbed. And one of the most memorable parts (from a most memorable holiday) was the balloon ride over the desert with our pilot Dennis - not only highly skilled but full of fascinating stories and then it all ended with a champagne breakfast in the dunes!
Hoodia Desert Lodge review
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hoodia. Really nicely designed main lodge and accommodation. Loved the outdoor shower.
Extremely friendly owners and staff and high quality food and drink. The sundowner trip was truly magnificent. A great location on a small kopjie near the camp, lovely food and drink and stunning views. Not cheap at N$250 per head, but worth it. We didn't go on their Sossusvlei trip as we had already been. I'm sure it would have been very good, however N$1350 a head seems incredibly steep seeing as Sesriem is so close to the camp.
Would highly recommend as a base for Sesriem/Sossusvlei.

Really good inventive food by the two lady chefs. Everyone very friendly. Angula is a great guide - professional and sympatico attitude.
Lovely setting - pleased we spent 4 nights there. Fabulous day at Sossusvlei - Paul climbed Big Daddy!!

A great place to be on our 1st real night in the wilderness
